The Orange Barn by Sarudzai Mubvakure

“Why didn’t you tell me that I had a son?”

Tom was staring at Eliza with blood shot eyes. He painfully surveyed her beauty from a distance as he waited for her response. Neither of them was distracted by the rain drops that were falling on the roof of the old barn that held so many of their precious memories. Eliza looked at him, no longer with the eyes of adoration that once held Tom in high regard. Instead, they carried the weight of years of pain, years of waiting and years of disappointment.

Sarudzai, this was a lovely, heart-wrenching tale. I loved how you kept drawing us back to the orange barn and its significance to the story. I love the historical context of master/slave relationship when Rhodesia was still known as Rhodesia. Watch out for the switching POV that surfaced in the second part of this tale... lovely work! Well done!

Love your writing style, your language. So clean and neat. Great stuff> Reminiscent of Danielle Steel, of those twentieth century classics, a very nice flow. Is your book available in South Africa?

Not really the sort for emotion, but I probably wouldn't care if I sniffed through the movie adaptation of this one. Enjoyed reading it!!
